Behavioural Optometry Services Now Available!
We are proud to announce that we now provide Behavioural Optometry* services at our practice. Behavioural Optometry involves the investigation of potential visual processing problems in children, that may lead to learning difficulties, and consequently poor school performance.
Our experienced optometrists can now provide a comprehensive service to those children considered at a high risk of suffering a visual processing problem that may be affecting school performance. This service includes the assessment, diagnosis, and management of such problems through a range of treatment alternatives.
If you, a family member, or your child's school teacher are concerned with your child's progress at school, and feel they may have a visual processing problem, please call us today to organise an assessment for your child.
New Advances in Contact Lenses!
Contact lenses have gone through dramatic advances in recent years. We now have a huge range of contact lens products, and possible wearing modalities, that can be customised to suit any eye condition, and any prescription.
Daily disposables, coloured disposables, extended wear options you can sleep in, astigmatism correction, bifocal or multifocal contact lenses, and new silicon-hydrogel materials designed to suit allergy sufferers and dry eye problems, are all readily available.
If you've always wanted to try contact lenses, or have tried and failed previously, now is the perfect time to try again. We offer one-on-one tuition to all contact lens wearers, so they can learn how to insert, and remove their contact lenses with ease. We are happy to provide a free* contact lens trial for those interested, so ring and book an appointment today.
*Professional Fees may apply.
Digital Retinal Imaging
In our aim to provide the best and most comprehensive retinal eyecare for our clients, this practice has a policy of performing routine digital retinal imaging, for all of our clients, every 3-4 years, or earlier if indicated.
Digital retinal imaging allows us to examine and record your retinal eye health in greater detail than has been previously available to us. It also gives us the ability to compare the condition of your eyes over several years, thereby allowing a more accurate assessment of any progression in your retinal eye condition. It is especially beneficial for those patients with a family history of diabetes, glaucoma, or macular degeneration, or for those patients who have these conditions themselves.
For the majority of patients, digital retinal imaging is very simple and only involves a camera flash. Some patients with very small pupils may require a mild drop to enlarge the pupil sufficiently for imaging.
Digital retinal imaging has been made possible by recent advances in technology and is currently not covered by Medicare. Medicare will continue to cover the cost of a standard consultation, however, digital retinal imaging will attract a small out-of-pocket charge. Please ask our friendly staff, or your optometrist, for details of the current fees for digital retinal imaging.
Along with digital retinal imaging, we will continue to provide our patients with the most advanced eye testing techniques available, to ensure that each and every patient will continue to be provided with the very best in eyecare.
